Not actually showing the origin of the virus, just letting us see the cities right when everything is going to hell.Īnother change I can think of would be to instead of being about going to point A to B make it a little more like those resident evil maps from the workshop where you backtrack to search for clues and stuff (yeah those maps are my favorites) Maybe make the zombies more durable? Like the stats from realistic where if you haven't learn to shoot to the head, your gonna have a bad time.

Instead of being so focused on multiplayer with an option for offline make it focused on being story heavy ala Valve (ie: on gameplay without cinematics) With a new set of survivors telling the beginning of the infection spread and how it destroyed the world with tons of voice lines to properly communicate it to the player. I think the best way to make a L4D prequel would be by changing the gameplay a little bit. Another option would be to set it in between the story of 1 and 2 but that doesn't really give much space to do anything interesting imo. A prequel set before this wouldn't be able to include them without breaking the lore. I mean, the special infected started appearing 2 weeks after the first infection.

So, I was playing a mod for first L4D called Left 4 Dead Zero (it's a compilation of mods that recreate the beta from turtle rock) and I thought what if we get a prequel?Ī sequel is basically a no-no for valve and their fobia of number 3 but H:alyx showed that a prequel is not impossible.
